Casablanca – Stellantis has successfully completed the acquisition of the remaining 49% stake in Sopriam, the exclusive distributor of Peugeot, Citroën, and DS Automobiles in Morocco. This acquisition marks a strategic step in Stellantis’ effort to fully integrate its import and distribution operations within the Kingdom.

Founded in 1977, Sopriam has been a key player in the Moroccan automotive market, initially assembling Peugeot vehicles before becoming the exclusive distributor for multiple renowned automotive brands. The company was originally formed through a partnership between ONA, Peugeot, and Somaca. Over the years, Sopriam has grown into a leading force in the country’s automotive sector, helping shape the landscape of car sales and distribution.

With the completion of this acquisition, Stellantis Maroc – formerly FCA Maroc – will now oversee all commercial operations for Stellantis’ brands in Morocco, including Peugeot, Citroën, DS Automobiles, Fiat, Fiat Professional, Abarth, Jeep®, and Alfa Romeo. Sopriam will continue to play a crucial role in the distribution of these brands through its established network of branches, ensuring continuity and maintaining its strong local presence.

This strategic restructuring is designed to streamline operations, improve synergies across Stellantis’ brands, and enhance the customer experience. By consolidating commercial activities under Stellantis Maroc, the company aims to deliver a more integrated and efficient service to Moroccan consumers.

The acquisition aligns with Stellantis’ broader vision outlined in its Dare Forward 2030 strategy, which targets 22% market share in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, positioning the company for long-term growth in the region. Stellantis, formed in 2021 through the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and PSA Group, continues to expand its global presence.

As Stellantis moves forward with its ambitious goals, the completion of the Sopriam acquisition underscores its commitment to the Moroccan market, reinforcing its strategy to lead in the automotive sector and achieve carbon neutrality by 2038.
