Casablanca – A prominent Turkish footwear manufacturer has forged a partnership with Moroccan professionals to produce shoes labeled “Made in Morocco,” ahead of the anticipated 2030 World Cup finals to be held in Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.
The official announcement of the collaboration between the global Turkish manufacturer, known as “Flo”, and Moroccan counterparts was made on Tuesday, with the aim of contributing to sports shoe production in Morocco for international export.
Industry stakeholders have unveiled plans for the Moroccan arm of the Turkish brand “Flo” to specialize in manufacturing sports footwear, targeting an initial production capacity of 2,000 pairs per day.
Boubker Jattou, the group’s managing director, emphasized that “Made in Morocco” will emerge as a strong contender in the global sports shoe market, especially with Morocco gearing up to host the 2030 World Cup.
Jattou, speaking alongside the Turkish company’s CEO, underscored the opportunity presented by the upcoming World Cup to establish “Made in Morocco” as a preferred brand among sports enthusiasts and football fans.
The spokesperson highlighted that Turkish and Moroccan investors are looking to expand retail presence, which will boost Morocco’s exports to Turkey, Europe, and the Middle East, bolstering the reputation of “Made in Morocco” internationally.
Moreover, Moroccan and Turkish investors are focused on increasing employment in the sector and transforming Morocco from a consumer to a producer of sports footwear.
Meanwhile, Yınal Gökdere, CEO of the group, expressed pride in investing in Morocco and promoting sports shoes through their existing stores across the kingdom’s cities.
The Turkish investor emphasized their commitment to further investment in Morocco, aiming to expand to 50 stores by the time of the 2030 World Cup.
Flo is one of the largest Fashion footwear brands in Turkey. It provides the broadest range of footwear and handbags. It has 28 brands and sells more than 60M worth of footwear annually. The brand has over 620 stores worldwide, offering all categories such as casual, comfort, active, and fashion for all age groups.
