Casablanca – To aid Morocco’s post-earthquake reconstruction efforts, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, Fouzi Lekjaa, alongside Sandra Rohleder, a division chief at the German Development Bank (KfW), convened in Rabat to sign a loan agreement totaling $115 million.
The primary objective of this loan, signed in the presence of Robert Dölger, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Morocco, is to bolster Morocco’s capacity to manage the aftermath of the Al Haouz earthquake and alleviate its socio-economic impact on the affected communities.
Following the signing ceremony, Minister Lekjaa underscored the significance of this agreement, emphasizing its role in financing essential aid packages for households directly affected by the earthquake. He hailed the loan as a tangible manifestation of the enduring partnership between Morocco and Germany, exemplifying their commitment to mutual cooperation and support.
The event also highlighted the robust bilateral relations between Morocco and Germany, particularly in the context of significant reform programs and large-scale investment initiatives undertaken by the Kingdom.
Ambassador Dölger expressed his delight at the signing of the agreement, recognizing its helpful role in facilitating the reconstruction of the earthquake-affected region.
