Casablanca – FORVIA, the seventh-largest global supplier of automotive technology, has announced a significant expansion of its operations in Morocco with the inauguration of two new industrial facilities. The first, a state-of-the-art plant located in the Technopolis Industrial Acceleration Zone in Salé, was officially opened on November 27. The second facility, an expansion of the company’s existing site in Kenitra, is set to be inaugurated on November 28.

These developments are expected to boost Morocco’s growing reputation as a key hub for automotive manufacturing, aligning with the country’s ambitions to enhance local integration and strengthen its position in global automotive value chains.

Driving growth in Morocco’s automotive sector

The new Salé facility will specialize in the production of automotive seat covers made from both fabric and leather. This plant is part of FORVIA’s broader strategy to diversify its product offerings and meet the growing demands of its customers in Morocco and Europe. The expansion in Kenitra will focus on scaling up production capacity to support the company’s operations across global markets.

Together, these two projects are expected to create 2,000 jobs by 2027, increasing FORVIA’s workforce in Morocco to approximately 6,000 employees. The combined investments nearly double the company’s production footprint in the country, further solidifying its role as a major player in Morocco’s automotive ecosystem.

Government support and industry confidence

During the inauguration ceremony in Salé, Ryad Mezzour, Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, highlighted the significance of this investment. “These new facilities reflect the confidence of global industry leaders in Morocco as a prime destination for industrial projects,” he said. Mezzour also emphasized the projects’ potential to enhance local supply chain integration and elevate Morocco’s standing in the global automotive industry.

Patrick Koller, CEO of FORVIA, echoed these sentiments, describing Morocco as a country of strategic importance for the company. “These new sites in Salé and Kenitra will help FORVIA improve its competitiveness, strengthen its presence in global value chains, and contribute to the creation of nearly 2,000 jobs,” Koller stated.

A legacy of growth in Morocco

FORVIA has been operating in Morocco since 2008, with existing facilities in Kenitra and Salé employing nearly 4,000 people. The company’s operations include the production of automotive seat covers, dashboards, door panels, and exhaust after-treatment systems. This latest expansion reinforces FORVIA’s long-term commitment to Morocco and its role in the country’s industrial growth.

By continuing to invest in cutting-edge facilities and creating job opportunities, FORVIA is not only supporting Morocco’s economic development but also contributing to the nation’s vision of becoming a global leader in the automotive sector.
