Casablanca – As summer 2025 approaches, Morocco is set to experience a significant increase in air connectivity, with new and expanded routes linking it to Spain and other European destinations. Airlines are enhancing their services to meet growing demand from travelers, reinforcing Morocco’s position as a key destination for tourism and business.
Spanish airline Air Nostrum expands routes to Morocco
Air Nostrum, a leading Spanish regional airline and a franchise partner of Iberia, has announced an expansion of its direct flight operations between Málaga and Morocco, specifically to the cities of Tangier and Casablanca. This increase in frequency aligns with rising passenger demand during the peak summer season.
The airline, known for its efficiency in regional aviation, operates a fleet of 46 aircraft servicing 59 destinations across Europe and North Africa. Its expansion into Morocco reflects a strategic effort to improve accessibility for travelers while strengthening air connections between Spain and North Africa.
New flight schedules to Tangier and Casablanca
- Málaga-Tangier route: Air Nostrum will continue operating flights twice a week (Tuesdays and Saturdays) until June 28. After a brief pause, service will resume from September 2 to 30 on the same schedule. Between July 1 and 18, the frequency will increase to three weekly flights (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday). During peak summer (July 19 to August 31), flights will intensify to five rotations per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday). Strategic partnership with Royal Air Maroc
Air Nostrum’s expanded operations will be conducted under a codeshare agreement with Royal Air Maroc, Morocco’s national carrier. This partnership aims to enhance connectivity, allowing passengers to benefit from more streamlined travel options between the two countries. Such collaborations play a crucial role in facilitating tourism, trade, and economic interactions across borders.
Increasing air travel to Morocco
Beyond Air Nostrum, other airlines are also reinforcing their Moroccan routes for 2025. Notably, Transavia, the low-cost airline of the Air France-KLM group, will introduce 14 new direct routes from France to Morocco starting in winter 2025. This expansion will bring over 130,000 additional seats, solidifying Morocco as a top destination for French travelers.
Impact on tourism and business travel
The surge in flight availability aligns with Morocco’s broader tourism strategy, aimed at attracting international visitors while fostering economic growth. Enhanced flight connections will provide tourists with more options to explore Morocco’s rich cultural heritage, vibrant cities, and scenic landscapes. Additionally, improved air routes will facilitate business travel, strengthening commercial ties between Morocco and key European markets.
