Casablanca – Morocco has seen a robust performance in its automotive sector, with new car sales reaching 82,286 units by the end of June 2024, reflecting a 1.06% increase compared to the previous year. This data, released by the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM), highlights key insights into the country’s automotive market dynamics.
In detail, registrations of passenger vehicles (VP) showed a marginal decline of 0.24%, totaling 74,048 units. Conversely, sales of light commercial vehicles (VUL) surged by 14.54%, achieving 8,238 units during the same period, as reported in AIVAM’s monthly statistics.
The dominance in the passenger vehicle segment remains pronounced with ‘Dacia’ leading the charge, capturing a commanding 26.65% market share with 19,732 new registrations since the beginning of the year. Following closely, Renault secured a significant market presence with 11,657 units sold, equating to a 15.74% market share, while Hyundai followed with 5,933 units, accounting for 8.01% of the market.
Within the realm of light commercial vehicles, Renault maintained its lead by selling 2,040 units, claiming a substantial 24.76% market share. Ford exhibited notable growth, with sales escalating to 1,138 units, capturing 13.81% market share, while DFSK sold 963 units, representing an 11.69% market share.
In the premium segment, Audi emerged as a frontrunner, securing a 3.04% market share with 2,252 units sold. BMW and Mercedes-Benz followed closely with market shares of 2.78% (2,055 units) and 2.03% (1,505 units), respectively.
The month of June 2024 alone saw a total of 15,855 passenger vehicles and 1,513 light commercial vehicles sold in Morocco, amounting to 17,368 vehicles in total. This figure reflects a slight decrease of 0.15% compared to June 2023, underscoring the resilience of the market amidst various economic factors.
