Casablanca – Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Morocco’s national airline, has inaugurated a new direct flight linking Casablanca and Munich, marking a significant milestone in strengthening air travel between Morocco and Germany. The inaugural flight took off from Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca on Monday at 1:30 PM and arrived at Munich International Airport at 6:00 PM, covering the route in just over four hours.

The new service will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, connecting Casablanca to one of Europe’s major industrial and technological hubs. The launch was celebrated in Munich with a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, a reception in the departure area, and a “water salute” on the tarmac—an arch of water jets performed by airport fire services—followed by a photo session with the flight crew. The event was attended by Moroccan and African expatriates, tourists, airline staff, Moroccan embassy representatives, and Munich airport officials. Passengers preparing to board also joined the festivities.

According to Royal Air Maroc, the Casablanca–Munich route is more than a simple air link; it is a strategic bridge designed to enhance economic, cultural, and technological exchanges between Morocco and Germany. The airline expects the service to serve not only tourists and business travelers but also the Moroccan and African diaspora in Germany and neighboring countries such as Austria and Switzerland.

Munich becomes RAM’s second regular destination in Germany, after Frankfurt, where the airline already operates daily flights. Seasonal services from Düsseldorf and Frankfurt to northern Moroccan cities, including Nador and Oujda, further expand RAM’s German network. The new connection also offers German travelers convenient onward flights to several African destinations, particularly in West Africa, through Casablanca’s central hub.

From an economic and business perspective, Munich—an industrial and technological center—provides Moroccan and African companies a gateway to Europe, while Casablanca, as a growing financial and economic hub in Africa, offers access to North and West African markets. The route is expected to facilitate trade, technological exchanges, and mobility for professionals, creating opportunities for partnerships and investment.

The launch of the Casablanca–Munich line is part of RAM’s broader strategy to expand its international network and reinforce Casablanca’s position as a leading African hub connecting Europe and beyond. The airline has recently opened several new domestic and international routes, aiming to strengthen Morocco’s role in global trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.

Tourism benefits are also a key component of the route’s strategic value. German tour operators will be able to offer integrated travel packages from Munich and Frankfurt, encouraging high-end tourism and promoting Moroccan cultural and leisure destinations to the European market. In addition, travelers gain seamless access to RAM’s extensive African network, particularly across sub-Saharan Africa.

RAM emphasizes that the initiative aligns with Morocco’s wider vision to enhance bilateral ties and foster South–South cooperation. The airline continues to pursue expansion through new routes and strategic partnerships, maintaining high standards of safety, comfort, and reliability for passengers.

With the Casablanca–Munich connection, Royal Air Maroc reaffirms its ambition to link Morocco and Africa with the world, providing a strategic gateway between the African continent and major European economic centers, while supporting economic growth, tourism, and cultural exchange.
