Casablanca – The annual “Marhaba 2024” operation, designed to streamline travel between Morocco and Europe during the summer season, has achieved notable success. From June 5 to August 15, Moroccan ports have managed the transit of approximately 1.9 million passengers and 447,000 vehicles, reflecting a robust and well-managed flow of traffic.

According to the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, the operation has been running smoothly, with Moroccan ports handling around 1.33 million passengers and 317,000 vehicles arriving in Morocco. In contrast, approximately 570,000 passengers and 130,000 vehicles have traveled from Moroccan ports to various destinations in Europe.

The operation witnessed its peak on August 3 and 4, when over 80,000 passengers and 20,000 vehicles were recorded, marking these days as exceptionally busy. This surge underscores the significance of the “Marhaba” operation, which facilitates the travel of Moroccans and their families returning for the summer season.

The Ministry has been proactive in ensuring the success of the operation by mobilizing a range of resources. This includes deploying sufficient transport capacity to meet the high demand, diversifying maritime routes to accommodate the large number of travelers, and closely monitoring the quality of onboard services and ferry ticket prices. These efforts are aimed at ensuring a seamless travel experience and maintaining high standards throughout the operation.

As the return phase approaches, the Ministry is urging travelers to plan ahead to ensure a smooth and secure passage through Moroccan ports. Travelers are advised to book their tickets in advance with confirmed travel dates and times for all maritime routes, including “Tangier Med – Algeciras” and “Tangier Ville – Tarifa.” This advance booking is crucial to managing the anticipated high volume of travelers and avoiding potential congestion at the ports.

For those who may need to adjust their travel plans, the Ministry recommends contacting the relevant maritime company remotely before arriving at the port. This step will help prevent delays and ensure that any necessary changes to travel dates or times are handled efficiently.

The “Marhaba 2024” operation is a critical component of Morocco’s summer travel infrastructure, designed to support the significant movement of people and vehicles between Morocco and Europe. The successful management of this operation highlights the effective coordination between various stakeholders, including port authorities, transport services, and maritime companies, ensuring that travelers experience a well-organized and hassle-free journey.

The positive results of “Marhaba 2024” reflect the operation’s continued importance in facilitating travel for Moroccan expatriates and their families, reaffirming Morocco’s commitment to providing efficient and high-quality transportation services during the peak travel season.
