Casablanca – Morocco continues to make waves in the tourism sector as it surpasses previous records, welcoming over 13.2 million tourists during the first eleven months of 2023. This significant achievement not only exceeds the best performance of 12.9 million tourists for the entire year of 2019 but also marks a notable 36% increase compared to the same period in 2022.

The Ministry of Tourism, Traditional Industry, Social and Solidarity Economy revealed these statistics, highlighting the country’s growing allure as a preferred tourist destination. “The year 2023 marks a turning point for Moroccan tourism,” stated the ministry in a press release. “Over 11 months, the number of tourists arriving in Morocco reached 13.2 million, breaking the record set in the entire year of 2019.”

November 2023 witnessed a significant influx of tourists, with approximately one million visitors flocking to the kingdom, representing a 9% increase compared to November 2022. This dynamic growth underscores the effectiveness of Morocco’s strategic initiatives in promotion and air transport, further solidifying its reputation as a preferred tourist destination.

Fatima Zahra Amor, Minister of Tourism, Traditional Industry, Social and Solidarity Economy, expressed satisfaction with these results, emphasizing the collective effort involved in achieving such milestones. “We are pleased with these exceptional results that encourage and motivate us to continue the work initiated with all stakeholders in the sector,” she remarked.

Moreover, the ministry highlighted the implementation of the 2023-2026 tourism roadmap as a driving force behind Morocco’s success. “It is clear that the beginning of implementing the tourism roadmap for 2023-2026 is bearing fruit,” noted Minister Amor. “We are on the right track to surpass the goal of 14 million tourists by the end of December 2023.”

This surge in tourism not only boosts Morocco’s economy but also reflects its commitment to sustainable tourism practices. As the country continues to attract visitors from around the globe, it remains dedicated to preserving its rich cultural heritage and natural landscapes for generations to come.
