Casablanca – German low-cost carrier Eurowings, a subsidiary of Lufthansa and Germany’s largest leisure airline, has announced a major expansion of its services to Morocco for the 2025/2026 winter season. The move includes new routes linking Marrakech with several European cities and an increase in flight frequencies on existing lines, underscoring Morocco’s growing appeal as a key winter tourism destination.

Four new gateways to Marrakech

For the first time, Marrakech will be connected directly to Hanover and Stuttgart in Germany, Salzburg in Austria, and Prague in the Czech Republic. Each of these new routes will be served by two weekly flights.

The rollout will take place in stages:

  • Hanover–Marrakech: from October 29, 2025.
  • Salzburg–Marrakech: from November 4, 2025.
  • Stuttgart–Marrakech: from November 6, 2025.
  • Prague–Marrakech: from November 8, 2025.

The Prague connection will run twice weekly throughout the season until March 2026, with a planned suspension between January 3 and February 15. Flights on this route will be operated by Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 180 passengers.

More flights from Düsseldorf, steady links to Fez and Agadir

Alongside these new services, Eurowings will increase its Düsseldorf–Marrakech flights from two to three per week. The company will also maintain its twice-weekly service from Cologne/Bonn to Fez and continue operating flights to Agadir from both Düsseldorf and Stuttgart.

This broader coverage gives travelers from across Germany and neighboring countries greater access not only to Marrakech but also to Morocco’s coastal and cultural hubs.

Responding to strong demand

The airline describes the expansion as part of a strategy to respond to the rising demand for Moroccan destinations among German and European travelers. According to Eurowings, Morocco can be reached from Germany in just about four hours, offering a convenient escape to a destination with a mild climate, diverse landscapes, and year-round appeal.

Michael Handel, Vice President for Network and Airport Relations at Eurowings, highlighted the variety awaiting travelers: “From surfing on the Atlantic coast, to shopping in traditional markets, or trekking in the Sahara Desert, Morocco offers incredible diversity. With comfortable winter temperatures and easy access, we are confident Morocco will attract many new visitors.”

Morocco’s tourism sector welcomes the move

The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) has welcomed Eurowings’ decision, noting that it aligns with Morocco’s strategy to attract more European visitors and strengthen sustainable growth in the sector. The office emphasized that the increased frequencies and new connections “confirm Morocco’s position as a preferred destination on the European tourism map.”

The ONMT highlighted Morocco’s mix of history, culture, gastronomy, and natural beauty as key assets that continue to resonate with German travelers. The country has already recorded strong growth in arrivals in 2025, with Marrakech and Agadir among the top destinations.

Expanding Morocco’s reach in Europe

With the new schedule, six European cities will now have direct Eurowings connections to Morocco: Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Hanover, Stuttgart, Salzburg, and Prague. For travelers, this means more options to access Morocco’s most popular destinations, from the historic medinas of Fez and Marrakech to the beaches of Agadir and the desert landscapes of the south.

For Eurowings, the expansion marks another step in diversifying its leisure network across the Mediterranean and North Africa. For Morocco, it is a sign of the country’s rising profile as a winter sun destination offering both adventure and cultural richness.

Strengthening Morocco’s position as a top winter destination

With Eurowings’ expanded program, Morocco is set to benefit from greater visibility and accessibility across Central Europe. The country’s blend of sunshine, culture, and hospitality makes it an increasingly attractive option for travelers seeking an alternative to traditional winter destinations.

As Eurowings triples its flights and opens new gateways, Morocco is expected to consolidate its role as a leading winter travel hotspot just a short distance from Europe.
