Casablanca – Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has officially resumed its direct flights between Casablanca and São Paulo, marking the long-awaited return of air travel between Morocco and Brazil, a route suspended for five years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The first flight, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, landed on Saturday evening at Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo, where passengers were warmly greeted with a traditional Water Salute. Approximately 300 passengers, including both business and leisure travelers, were welcomed by Brazilian tourism officials in a ceremony that underscored the importance of this renewed connection between the two countries.
This resumption reflects the growing demand from both Brazilian and Moroccan business communities and tourists eager to strengthen ties across the Atlantic. The route, which operates three times a week, will allow travelers to fly directly from Casablanca to São Paulo every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday at 4:40 PM, arriving in São Paulo at 10:20 PM (local time). The return flights depart São Paulo every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday at 12:25 AM, reaching Casablanca at 1:15 PM.
The new service is operated by the state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner, a new-generation aircraft known for its excellent comfort, safety features, and reduced environmental impact thanks to its low carbon footprint. This reflects RAM’s commitment to sustainability alongside enhancing passenger experience.
RAM’s regional director, Othman Baba, emphasized that the airline’s code-share agreement with GOL Linhas Aéreas, Brazil’s leading carrier, will expand connectivity to numerous other cities in both Brazil and Morocco, strengthening the network between the two nations.
“From the Casablanca hub, passengers will have access to 97 destinations worldwide, including Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and soon Asia with the addition of a new route to Beijing,” Baba said.
The resumption of this flight route is part of RAM’s broader strategy to support Morocco’s international projects, including its hosting of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, co-organized with Spain and Portugal. The availability of direct flights to Brazil will facilitate travel for Brazilian football fans, eager to visit the host nations in the lead-up to the tournament.
The re-establishment of direct air links between Morocco and Brazil highlights the strength and vitality of the long-standing bilateral relationship between the two countries, offering new opportunities for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.
