Casablanca – On December 8, 2024, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) marked a significant milestone in its expansion strategy by launching a new direct flight route connecting Casablanca, Morocco, to Toronto, Canada. This new service is set to strengthen ties between Morocco and Canada, providing more opportunities for business, tourism, and cultural exchange.

The first flight from Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca took off on Sunday afternoon, carrying 204 passengers, while the return flight from Toronto saw nearly 275 passengers on board, bringing the total number of travelers to nearly 480 for the inaugural flights. This direct route is scheduled to operate three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, offering increased flexibility for travelers between the two cities.

Flights will depart from Casablanca at 4:45 PM local time, arriving in Toronto at 7:25 PM local time. Return flights will leave Toronto at 9:30 PM local time and land in Casablanca at 10:50 AM the following day, making the connection between the two cities more seamless than ever before.

Royal Air Maroc’s new route is expected to benefit not only Moroccan residents in Canada but also to strengthen the airline’s network across North America. This expansion complements RAM’s long-standing service to Montreal, operational since 1975, and its existing direct flights to New York, Washington, Miami, and São Paulo. The new Toronto connection is part of RAM’s broader strategy, outlined in a development plan signed with the Moroccan government in July 2023, which aims to boost tourism, trade, and cultural ties between Morocco and Canada.

Speaking about the significance of the new route, Morocco’s Ambassador to Canada, Souria Othmani, emphasized that it will “create new opportunities for businesspeople, academics, artists, and citizens on both sides of the Atlantic.” She added that the launch of this service marks an important step in deepening the relationship between the two nations.

The addition of the Toronto route also highlights Royal Air Maroc’s growing position as a leading airline connecting Africa with the rest of the world. The airline’s Casablanca hub is becoming an increasingly important transit point for global travelers, particularly those traveling between Africa and North America.

As part of its efforts to support tourism, RAM has already partnered with several organizations in Ontario to promote Morocco as a preferred travel destination. The new flight offers a unique chance to explore Morocco’s rich history, culture, and natural beauty, further enhancing the airline’s role in connecting people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

With this new air route, Royal Air Maroc is not only expanding its reach but also reinforcing Morocco’s status as a bridge between continents, providing direct access to the North American market and fostering closer connections between Morocco and its growing community in Canada.
