Casablanca – A comprehensive strategy to combat industrial pollution spanning over a decade has been unveiled by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development. Minister Leila Benali announced the development of a new program targeting industrial pollution prevention and control for the period between 2024 and 2035.
With a projected budget of $1.96 billion, the initiative is poised to tackle industrial pollution through a multifaceted approach involving regulatory measures and financial incentives. Benali emphasized the importance of international partnerships and contributions from both public and private sectors to ensure the program’s success.

Furthermore, the ministry’s financial support for 125 projects across the country underscores its dedication to combating industrial pollution. With an allocation of approximately $103 million, including substantial grants, these projects aim to enhance environmental sustainability and reduce pollution levels.
In parallel, legal frameworks are being revised to strengthen waste management and disposal regulations. Benali mentioned ongoing revisions to Law 28.00, which is integral to improving waste management practices and ensuring environmental protection.
The announcement reflects the government’s proactive stance towards environmental preservation and underscores its commitment to sustainable development.
