Casablanca – Morocco has secured a place among the world’s leading tourism destinations for 2025, according to a recent report published by Travel and Tour World, an international platform specializing in global travel and tourism trends. The report highlights Morocco’s exceptional growth in visitor arrivals, cultural diversity, and distinctive experiences that continue to captivate travelers worldwide.

A strong year for global tourism

The ranking placed Morocco alongside other fast-growing destinations including Saudi Arabia, Malta, Qatar, El Salvador, Andorra, Serbia, Ethiopia, Colombia, and Albania. Each of these countries has been recognized for its unique attributes that boosted global visibility and enhanced attractiveness to international tourists.

For Morocco, the results confirm its steady rise as a global travel hub. The report noted that tourist arrivals in the country surged by 35% in 2024 compared with 2019, a performance that places the Kingdom among the standout performers in the global market.

Adventure and cultural richness driving appeal

The study emphasized the wide range of experiences Morocco offers. Historic medinas in Marrakech and Fez remain at the heart of the country’s cultural magnetism, drawing visitors into labyrinths of ancient streets, colorful souks, and centuries-old architecture. Beyond the cities, desert camel treks and hiking trails across the Atlas Mountains have become increasingly attractive to travelers seeking adventure and discovery.

Morocco’s cultural blend was another key factor underlined in the report. The interwoven Amazigh, Arab, and European influences create a rich and distinctive cultural landscape that appeals to diverse types of travelers. Roman ruins at Volubilis stand as a testament to the country’s deep history, while traditional markets across the Kingdom add vibrancy and authenticity to the visitor experience.

Morocco among leading global risers

The Travel and Tour World report grouped Morocco with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Colombia as destinations that experienced particularly strong increases in international arrivals. Analysts attributed this growth to a combination of factors:

  • Major infrastructure development, including improved transport links and new hospitality projects.
  • Expansion of cultural and adventure offerings, catering to changing tourist preferences.
  • Simplified visa policies, making travel more accessible.
  • Growing demand for authentic experiences, as travelers increasingly seek immersive journeys rather than traditional sightseeing alone.

This combination has allowed Morocco not only to recover from the downturn caused by the pandemic but also to surpass pre-pandemic levels of performance in record time.

Near-full global recovery supports growth

The report also recalled data from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which pointed to an almost complete recovery of international travel volumes compared with pre-Covid years. This rebound has been fueled largely by surging demand in Asia and the Pacific, which in turn has helped sustain global travel flows and destinations like Morocco.

Supporting this view, the latest Global Tourism Index highlighted that today’s travelers are looking for deeper, more engaging experiences without sacrificing comfort and safety. Morocco, with its blend of history, adventure, and culture, is seen as particularly well positioned to meet this demand.

National figures confirm positive momentum

The upward trend is also reflected in Morocco’s official figures. The Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy announced that the country welcomed 11.6 million visitors by the end of July 2025, representing a 16% increase compared with the same period in 2024.

The ministry added that this momentum continued through the peak summer month of July, when 2.7 million tourists arrived in the Kingdom, a 6% year-on-year rise. These figures underline the resilience and sustained attractiveness of Morocco’s tourism sector despite global economic uncertainties.

Morocco’s growing place on the global tourism map

Taken together, the data suggests that Morocco’s tourism sector has not only recovered from the pandemic but is entering a new phase of growth. Its ability to combine cultural heritage with modern infrastructure, and authentic experiences with safety and accessibility, makes it a destination that stands out in an increasingly competitive global market.

As international travel continues to rebound, Morocco’s challenge will be to maintain this momentum by ensuring sustainable development of its tourism assets, balancing growth with preservation of its cultural and natural heritage. For now, however, the Kingdom’s inclusion among the top global destinations for 2025 confirms its status as one of the most dynamic and appealing travel spots worldwide.
